I have been teaching visual arts in junior high school for almost ten years now. Just after graduating, as I started my career as a teacher in priority national education in France, I gave up photography to devote myself to teaching and improvisational theatre. For a little over two years, I have started making photos again, after a ten years break. Today, I am particularly interested in the human figure, portrait and identity issues, but not only. Photography has now become for me like an extension of my theatrical experience. I like to transpose the emotions and stories of the characters I embody on stage to the models and situations I encounter in the streets or in my daily life. I photograph them to tell new stories, often inspired by Shakespearean characters or paintings from the Italian and Flemish Renaissance, a period which I particularly like in the history of Western art.
J'enseigne les arts plastiques au collège depuis bientôt dix ans. Peu après l'obtention de mon diplôme, alors que je débutais ma carrière d'enseignant dans plusieurs établissements d’éducation prioritaire en France, j'ai abandonné la pratique de la photographie pour me consacrer à l'enseignement et au théâtre d’improvisation. Depuis un peu plus de deux ans, j’ai repris la photographie, après une pause d’une dizaine d’années. Aujourd'hui, je m'intéresse particulièrement à la figure humaine et à ses représentations, à la question du portrait et à celles que soulèvent l’idée d'identité et ses problématiques historiques et contemporaines, mais pas seulement. La photographie est aussi devenue pour moi comme un prolongement de mon expérience théâtrale. J'aime transposer les émotions et les histoires des personnages que j'incarne sur scène aux modèles et aux situations que je rencontre dans la rue ou dans mon quotidien. Je les photographie pour raconter de nouvelles histoires, souvent inspirées de personnages shakespeariens ou tirées de peintures de la Renaissance italienne et flamande, une période de l’histoire de l’art occidental à laquelle je suis particulièrement sensible.
